NBA 2K25 introduces Steph Curry MyNBA mode and NBA Cup among new features

After helping lead Team USA to a gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Stephen Curry added another iconic moment to his already illustrious career.

From winning two MVPs, four NBA championships, and a Finals MVP, Curry’s dominance with the Golden State Warriors ran the league for years and now games will get the chance to relive or even rewrite history with the addition of the Steph Era, 2K announced today.

Alongside the Magic vs. Bird Era, Jordan Era, Kobe Era, and LeBron Era, which will all return on New Gen in NBA 2K25, the Steph Era, which begins during the 2016-17 season, captures one of the most dominant eras in basketball.

“We’re excited for players to customise the MyNBA and MyGM modes in NBA 2K25 to shape the league in their image,” said Erick Boenisch, VP of NBA 2K Development at Visual Concepts.

“Paying respect to arguably the best shooter to ever live, we welcome The Steph Era as another historic NBA Era. The new additions are designed to create a unique world of basketball fully under your control.”

The Steph Curry era brings dynasty to life

The Steph Curry era in MyNBA will take players back to 2016, allowing them to either relive the Warriors’ dynasty with Curry, Klay Thompson, Kevin Durant, and Draymond Green, or take the route of trying to dethrone the dynasty.

The Warriors were a juggernaut in the NBA from their first championship in 2014-15, going on to make the Finals in five-straight seasons, winning two more rings in that span.

They also won an NBA record 73 games during the 2015-16 season, eventually falling short in the NBA Finals to LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in seven games, before adding Durant in that offseason in free agency.

After Durant left for the Brooklyn Nets, the Warriors picked up another championship in 2022 — their fourth of the era, with Curry winning his first Finals MVP.

NBA Cup headlines new features in NBA 2K25

Along with the Curry era, NBA2K25 is adding the Emirates NBA Cup to the game this year.

The NBA Cup, which debuted as the In-Season Tournament during the 2023-24 season, saw the Los Angeles Lakers emerge as champions in its inaugural campaign.

NBA 2K25 allows gamers to compete in the group stage play, followed by single-elimination knockout.
