MLB Network’s Jon Morosi predicted that Hernández would join the Boston Red Sox in free agency if he can’t find a way to stay with the Dodgers.
“If Teoscar does not go back to Dodgers Stadium for 2025, I’m going to make this bold prediction here on November the 22nd. I believe he will go to the American League East. He has phenomenal, phenomenal career numbers at Fenway Park,” said Morosi. “If Soto signs with the Yankees or the Mets, get ready to listen to a lot of conversations about Teoscar and the Boston Red Sox.”
Spotrac projects Hernández to sign a three-year, $71 million deal following his career year with the Dodgers. In 2024 he set a new career high with 33 home runs. He was named to his second career All-Star game. He has made it known that he prefers to stay with the Dodgers, but the team may prioritize spending in other spots.
The Dodgers would be losing a key part of their offense. At times this season, Hernández helped the offense overcome key stretches where Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman were out.More MLB: Dodgers World Series hero has ‘mutual interest’ with the Yankees in free agency
